Mattress Insider Canada isn’t run by a content agency that’s never sold a mattress in their life. It’s run by someone who actually did, for four years, in a real retail store.
The Store
The business started as Mattress By Appointment, part of a Canadian franchise. We sold white-labeled, high-end, Canadian-made mattresses at a discount, and we stood behind them. In four years, we had only three returns. Not three percent, three total. That’s not an accident, it’s what happens when you actually help someone find the right mattress instead of just making a sale.
When the franchise dissolved, we quickly rebranded to Mattress Appointment Direct and kept going. Eventually, rising lease costs made the physical retail location unsustainable, not a lack of business, just the math of running a storefront. We closed the store, but we weren’t ready to walk away from everything we’d learned.
Why This Site Exists
Most mattress review sites online are written by people who’ve never actually sold a mattress, never watched a customer’s face when they finally find the right one, and never had to stand behind a return policy. We wanted to bring that real, on-the-floor experience online instead of letting it disappear when the store closed.
Mattress Insider Canada compares and recommends mattress brands based on what we’d actually tell a friend walking into our old store, not based on who pays the biggest commission. We’re upfront that we earn a commission when you buy through our links, that’s how this site stays free to use, but it never changes what we actually recommend.
